March 2007
Thanks for supporting Muppletone in the Raw Deal Productions/Music Lab Battle of the Bands. Although we didn't win, we had an awesome time. A seat at the table for experimental music!

11/23/05 Only one more show this year... your best chance to spread holiday cheer with the Mupple and pick up some copies of Let One Pump for all your friends' stockings. Also, don't miss the Invincible Czars' Nutcracker, featuring Muppletone's Phil Davidson on violin and the newly-enlisted Aaryn Russell (also of Muppletone fame) at selected Czars shows this holiday season.

10/23/05 Muppletone's Aaryn Russell will again be sitting in on guitar with Bee vs. Moth at the upcoming Nov. 10th Room 710 date. Also see Muppletone's Phil Davidson sitting in on violin with the Invincible Czars this Halloween (playing a rock band arrangement of Mussorgsky's Night on Bald Mountain and more).

10/02/05 Thanks to Brian Kenney Fresno for the (awe-) inspiring 2-day run last week. If you missed his one-man wizardry, or want to buy more of his CDs, his website is here.

Now that CARP weekly shows are over for the summer, keep your eyes open for less predictably scheduled but more variably located Art Rock extravaganzas. You can keep track of Muppletone's favorite Policy-making pals at their websites:

The Invincible Czars

Opposite Day

Bee vs. Moth

Guys, it was a fun summer. Thanks!

07/07/05 CARP is off running! Last night's inaugural CARP show at Carousel Lounge was a great time complete with Muppletone's first rock-inspired power outage (to this webmaster's knowledge). And next week's CARP show features all 4 bands and the official CARP CD release! Don't miss it if you can.

05/02/05 Muppletone goes into the studio this weekend to record "Asthma Attack of the Magi," "Buffets," and a plethora of short songs. You'll get a chance to hear these new songs all summer long when Muppletone will be part of the CARP showcases every Wednesday night at Carousel Lounge, starting in July.
CARP (Center for Art Rock Policy) is new and rad and fun and exciting and, without spilling too many beans, I can tell you that it involves Muppletone's Austin friends Bee vs. Moth, The Invinvible Czars, and Opposite Day. And recordings. And summer shows on Wednesdays at Carousel. And Policy. And Art. But mostly Rock.

03/14/05 Thanks to the Burnet folks for getting Muppletone out of Austin in 2005! It's SXSW week and there are 42 and a half good bands to check out in Austin (by my count). But if you're turned off by the craziness, it'd be acceptable for you to attend only one show: Muppletone's this Saturday at 1 in the afternoon. See ya there!

02/26/05 Aaryn's bio has a new Limbs Are Absent mp3 for download.

02/04/05 First update of the new year - welcome back, y'all. Muppletone wishes to thank all the loyal fans and occasional well-wishers for a successful 2004. Thanks!
Muppletone is working on some incredible plans for 2005, and the band is currently involved with putting together a number of new songs. Keep checking back for the official announcement of Muppletone's new "Ghosts of Tangier" concept show.

12/07/04 'Tis the season! On a roll after an excellent CD release show (thanks, muppleheads!), it's on to the headlining slot of the post-Music Lab Christmas Party-show on Dec. 18th. Don't let the musicians in the crowd deter you - it shall rock ... and Stupid Git's along for the ride again. Earplugs anyone? Eyeplugs?!?

Those who are so inclined may want to make a weekend of it... Muppletone drummer Jason White's other band, Surfing Standing Still will be playing Sunday night at Redrum in the finals of Music Lab's Battle of the Bands. Every vote counts, stand up and be heard, the world is ruled by those who show up, blah blah blah... Rumor has it that Muppletone violinist Phil Davidson has even been recruited to sit in for a song. So come surf along.

11/28/04 Less than a week 'til the CD release show...
and Aaryn's still undefeated by women.

You'll find new band photos sprinkled throughout these pages and bios are steadily coming in. (Check out the About page.) Also, Muppletone's web presence is growing, and the band would love to hear your ideas for building an online audience. To share your ideas or join the Muppletone email list, contact phil-at-muppletone.com (just write the address properly, foo).

11/20/04 A second new MP3 from Let One Pump has been added to the audio/video page!

Muppletone's Let One Pump CD release show is coming up soon. After sifting through the rumors flying rampantly about, the following has been ascertained with some degree of certainty:

The title of the new CD, Let One Pump, is the result of careful rearrangement of the letters of "Muppletone." (Webster calls that an anagram - if only "Muppletone" was always misspelled so cleverly.)

Stupid Git Productions vision/visuals whiz Seth White has generously teamed up with Muppletone for the show

As well as CDs, new Muppletone T-shirts and stickers will be available

Specially priced "Muppletonics" will be available from Redrum's bar

Muppletone violin guy Phil Davidson will also be guesting with the Invincible Czars in a special preview of the Czars' rockin' arrangement of the Nutcracker Suite. Listen to an MP3 sample here.

Come back frequenty to muppletone.com for the rest of the low-down

7/5/04 New album finished! Available soon from your favorite hooligans in masks, or a little bit later than that at our CD release event at Flamingo Cantina. Check back to the web site soon for updates and an MP3.

Check out what Rank and Revue thought of Muppletone here!

3/7/04 Did some rehearsal recordings today. The first step toward thinking about taking our new(er) songs into the studio. If any of them don't suck we'll pass 'em along to y'all on these fine pages. Ahh, the suspense. Meanwhile, we're getting ready to support lots of other bands (and/or work our asses off) during South by Southwest. Especially get out and support our Austin buds The Invincible Czars, Thursday 3/18 at the Hideout, 8pm.
